Mobility in the Enterprise
This session covers Microsoft’s strategy to address growing needs in the enterprise mobility space. With the newly-released System Center Mobile Device Manager and security improvements with Windows Mobile 6.1, Microsoft is vastly improving the speed and ease of deploying secure mobile devices and applications. With an average payback period of less than 11 months for a mobile application and a robust management platform, we expect to see rapid growth in enterprise line-of-business applications. This is creating significant opportunities for ISVs to build a range of new applications to accelerate business, improve operational efficiency and create unique applications specific to mobility.

Speaker: John O’Rourke, General Manager, Product Planning and Product Management of Windows Mobile Marketing, Microsoft

Rich Internet Applications: An Overview of Silverlight 2
Worldwide Internet usage has reached an estimated 1.1 billion people, and broadband penetration and Web ad revenue continue to grow. The user experience provided by rich Internet applications is the competitive edge that firms need to differentiate their products and draw users. Microsoft’s .NET based Silverlight technology plays a central role in allowing developers to create these differentiated user experiences. Learn about how Silverlight works with both Microsoft and non Microsoft products to provide professional-quality video experiences on the Web, how third-party graphical controls can easily be reused and embedded in Silverlight Web applications, and how designers and developers can work together more efficiently using new and existing tools.

Your Digital World – Meshed
We live in a world of devices and an era in which the Web is at the center of our experiences—experiences delivered not just through the browser on the PC but also through a diverse range of increasingly powerful devices. In April 2008 at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, Microsoft introduced the pre-beta Technical Preview of the Live Mesh platform, which has been under development for the past two years. Live Mesh, which has garnered significant media, analyst and blogger attention, is a Software + Services platform and experience that enables PCs and other devices to “come alive” by making them aware of each other through the Internet. In this session, you’ll learn how Live Mesh is:
  • A platform that defines and models a user’s relationships among devices, data, applications and people
  • A cloud service—an implementation of the platform hosted in Microsoft datacenters
  • Software that enables local applications to run offline and interact seamlessly with the cloud
  • A set of initial platform experiences that give individuals a simple way to link the devices, information, programs and people that matter to them
The Technical Preview exposes the core concepts and functionality of the platform. In the coming months, we will expand the preview to include Macs and mobile devices and deliver an SDK so developers can begin experimenting with the platform.

Speakers:
Abhay Parasnis, Product Unit Manager, Live Mesh Platform, Microsoft
Ori Amiga, Group Program Manager, Live Mesh Platform, Microsoft
